#63 SOLD - Rare Art Deco Wade cellulose figurine - 'Cynthia'
This is a Wade Art Deco cellulose figure, dating between 1927 and 1937 and designed by Head Designer for George Wade & Son, Jessie Van Hallen.
Figure is called Cynthia.
Height - 10.5 cm (4 1/4").
These cellulose figures were in production for only about a decade, but production ceased when Wade found that the cellulose was unstable, turning yellow and then peeling off.
This particular figurine, although free from chip and crack damage, does have peeling damage as described above.
The main peeling in particular is on the lower part on the front of the gown and the brim of the bonnet. The remainder is not too bad at all - please see the pictures.
This figurine has the most lovely face.
Still a charming figure, and clearly marked to the base with the Wade leaping deer mark.
